Dreamville Day 2
Are you ready for an update on the Dreamville Festival? Day 2 was a complete explosion of excitement and energy, managing to go above and beyond the already high expectations set by Day 1. From the start of the day until the very end, the festival was packed with high-energy performances and unforgettable experiences.
Mario went on early in the afternoon. His smooth vocals and catchy tunes had the crowd singing and dancing along, and his stage presence was truly captivating. And then, in stark contrast, Waka Flocka went on immediately after and was one of the standout performances of the day. He had Mike Will as his DJ and was able to capture the block party vibe that got everyone dancing and moshing. His energy was infectious, and his ability to engage the crowd was truly impressive. Bas and J.I.D. were two more talented artists who delivered unforgettable performances. Their vocal performances and beats had the crowd fully engaged, and it was clear that they were both crowd favorites. Summer Walker was all class in her first live performance since having kids, even bringing out 6lack as a surprise guest for part of her set.
then there was Burna Boy, who brought his unique sound to the festival's diverse lineup. It was amazing to see him perform for American audiences for the first time, and the crowd was fully invested and sang along. One of the great things J. Cole managed to do with his festival is highlighting musicians that many people wouldn’t have otherwise noticed.
And finally, the moment everyone had been waiting for - J. Cole took the stage and delivered a performance that will go down in Dreamville Festival history. For the first half of his set, he showcased all of the artists from Dreamville Records.
Drake co-headlined for the night, bringing along some special guests to join him on stage. Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, and the legendary Lil Wayne all made appearances. It was, however, an interesting choice by J. Cole to perform “A Lot” solo and before 21 was introduced by Drake. That song would have been the perfect segue way back to J. Cole’s set instead of Drake’s awkward rendition of “I will always love you” by Whitney Houston. J. Cole did manage to finish strong, though with “No Role Modelz.”
Overall, the Dreamville Festival was an incredible showcase of talent, with each artist bringing their unique sound and style to the stage. The festival was a true celebration of music and the power it has to bring people together.
